I'm a bit confused. All genetically modified seeds are labeled. There was never any need to have laws to require this, because the companies selling GMO seeds get a premium price for the seeds, and they wouldn't get that premium without telling the farmer that the seeds were GMO. Besides that, an organic farmer would have an obvious and easy lawsuit if a seed company sold him bag of seeds that were not legal to grow as organic. This discussion is all about requirements for labels on food GROWN FROM GMO seeds.

I am, Pepinurs, from Indonesia. Using the RGB process sometimes makes it inaccurate, because it sorts many varieties that have similar seed morphology. How to eliminate this inaccuracy, so that we are sure that the scan results are reliable

Someone should sponsor an earthquake forecasting contest. I realize the timescale of that would be much larger than a weather contest, but the results and methodologies could be incredibly valuable. Fascinating! I'm just an amateur vegetable gardener who likes growing potatoes. I'm lucky that my growing direction is almost north to south. But my plot is heavily shaded by surrounding buildings, so there is really only about 4.5 hours of direct sunlight on it. Last growing season, I added some fertilizer after double digging my beds. The potato plants shot out of the ground and grew taller than I ever remember them getting. I put up some sticks with string running between them to help support the heavy "vines." To cut to the harvest, my tubers were a nice size but I thought rather few in number compared to the size of the canopy. I guess I overfertilized! I'm wondering if it is safe to eat the potatoes?

A potato that cooks faster would also be helpful for families for whom gathering or purchasing fuel is a considerable effort. Think all the people in the world that walk kilometers to get brush or limbs for cooking.

There is Zero appetite for GMO food in Europe. GMO food doesn't have to be labeled in the US, in Europe it does and consumers have voted with their wallets leaving these trialed products on the shelves. And lets face it GMO, corporations have almost as poor a reputation as banks & hedge funds. As for the long term effects of GMO food on humans, taking part in the dubious, largest experiment in human food history, the jury is still out on that...
